Just uploaded work from the last several weeks. Several of the pieces are on Yupo paper – some amazing effects! You really can’t control it – you have to “Go with the flow, literally”. Also back to abstract landscapes, set the facial landscapes on hold. –Ron
Wishing everyone a happy and creative 2013. I’ve been experimenting recently and I just posted some of the new work. Take a look. All comments are apreciated!
Just updated the site with some recent work — a lot of experimental stuff. Comments on what you think are much appreciated. Ron
This is “Satya”, 22×30, water media. It is my most recent work and will be a part of the “Facial Landscapes II” exhibition at the Paciifc Art League in downtown Palo Alto — now through July 27th. The opening is this Friday, July 6th, from 5:30 to 8pm. Stop by and see the art, have some refreshments and talk about this and the other 13 works in the exhibit. Hope to see you there.
Second good news in a week! “Cerebral”, 22×30, water media, 2012, was juried into the San Diego Watercolor Society’s 32nd International Exposition, Oct 1-31, 2012.

It is always good to get back to your “comfort zone” once in a while. For me it is abstract landscapes. I just completed this piece – “Climatic”, 22×30, water media on paper. It is an attempt to integrate, in a suggestive way, many diverse global landscape/climate features, starting with the sun the driver of all this activity. I used gesso for an underpainting to create texture. I added sand in some areas for texture to suggest a different environment. Most of the painting was done wet-in-wet, with some pallet knife work at the end. There is a little acrylic for the line work, but most of the color is watercolor. My hope is that with some study a viewer can identify many global features.
Open Studios is May 5th & 6th, 11 to 5 both days. As in the past, I will be showing my art in a garden setting. The “Recent Work” portfolio on this site is only a small preview. Plan to stop by. If you bring a copy of this Post you will be entitled to a 20% discount on any purchases! There will also be a raffle as in past years. I hope to see you (Site #83, 481 Nevada Ave., Palo Alto). — Ron
After many years of a rather basic website to show my artwork, I finally have an upgrade with modern web technology and tools. I’ve built the site myself using “WordPress” and a template named “Striking”. It took a week or two to learn the new technology (not as easy as using a Mac and iWeb!) but it is powerful and the result very satisfying. As with anything new there may be some glitches — if so, I’d appreciate hearing from you. In fact any comments you care to make will be appreciated.
In the site I have added a Blog. My intention is to post commentary on selected pieces of recent work — what I was trying to accomplish and a self assessment of how well I think it worked. —Ron
