A New Gallery: Digital Collage

Being the experimentalist that I am, I am currently exploring the possibilities of digital collage.  It is really quite fascinating.  One can be much more creative than with traditional “cut and paste” collage.  I work from a set of images all take the same day at a specific location.  The intent is express different views, feelings of the subject matter, all in one composition.  Take a look at the new gallery.  The image here is “Stanford 3”.  All comments appreciated.  –Ron

New work – February, 2014

I’ve recently gone back to abstracted (contemporary) landscapes.  I am still trying to improve.  I’ve just posted a group of new works.  I’d really appreciate feedback if you care to comment.  — Ron

New Series of Experimental Art

I have just completed a series of pieces using acrylic on Yupo paper.  They are all abstract landscapes.  Each piece represents a slightly different approach to color, texture or composition.  Some have multiple layers of glazes.  I am also experimenting with the approach to framing.  Each piece in this series is mounted on either stretched canvas (larger works) or canvas board.  In both case the canvas is prepped with gesso and painted with white acrylic.  The canvas is larger than the artwork and the excess appears as a matted surround.  The work is then varnished and framed in a black metal frame without plexiglass or glass.  All comments/feedback are welcome! –Ron

New Work Posted

The first half of 2013 has been spent between abstract landscapes (comfort zone) and experimental (acrylic on Yupo-plastic paper).  The abstract has been a push to move further into abstraction.  The experimental work has been both frustrating and rewarding  — I am learning a lot understanding how to exert some control over the pigment.  Take a look  — all comments are welcome!  — Ron

I just uploaded examples of my recent work – take a look.  Any comments/feedback is always appreciated.  This image is of “Big Sur”, 22×28.  I painted images on several sheets of watercolor paper, tore them into stips using a deckle edge ruler, then collaged them onto a foamcore board.  What do you think?  —Ron\nThe post Just updated with recent artwork appeared first on Ron Andrews - Contemporary Landscapes.
